Kristy M. Chan

Kristy M. Chan (b. 1997) lives and works in London. Her practice moves fluidly between figuration and abstraction, resulting in energetic, intuitive, and autobiographical compositions. Drawing on surreal and disorienting moments from contemporary life, Chan describes her works as “stolen realities.”

Working primarily with densely applied oil and oil stick, her paintings function as visual archives of intense personal encounters within the fleeting rhythms of the city. Living between Hong Kong and London, she explores subject matter through the lens of an outsider, reflecting on the interplay of identities shaped by both Eastern and Western cultures.

Chan’s work is further informed by her fascination with literature, from which she extracts vivid metaphors and reimagines them in her own distinctive visual language.
